Rams Pick up First Wins of the Year

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MINNETONKA, Minn. – North Central University (NCU) was in action Thursday evening on Veterans Field in Minnetonka, Minnesota, to take on the Sabercats of Maranatha Baptist University. The Rams founds their bats early in game one as they exploded with 21 total hits en route to a 22-0 win, their first of the year. The night cooled off for game two, but the Rams kept the runs coming. NCU jumped on Maranatha early with two runs in the bottom of the first and eventually gre there lead to 11-1 at the end of the 5th inning. Due to light coverage on the field, the end of the contest was suspended until tomorrow afternoon. The game will proceed from the top half of the sixth inning with the Rams holding the 11-1 lead.

GAME ONE RECAP
Freshman, Michael Barrientos (W, 1-2), was on the bump for game one of the series and he was dialed in from the first pitch, sending the first three Sabercat batters all down on strikes. NCU followed the quick top half of the inning up with six runs in the bottom half of the frame on 5 hits. Senior Cory Kukkola got the Rams started with a lead off triple, his third triple bagger of the season. The Rams failed to score a run in the second inning, but more than made up for it with nine more in the second to lead by a score of 15-0. NCU rattled off a total of eight more runs in their final three plate appearances as they cruised to their first win of the season, taking game one by a score of 22-0. The Rams finished with 21 total hits as all 11 batters who headed to the plat all registered a hit. Barrientos finished his evening with fourteen total strikeouts in his complete game victory.

GAME TWO RECAP
Rams carried their offensive firepower into gae number two as they continue to pile on runs, scoring at least two runs in the first four innings. Freshman, Caiden Gelowicz, received the starting nod for the Rams in game two and he took full advantage. The rookie got comfortable early and had everything working from the mound. Gelowicz had allowed one earned run through his 5.0 innings pitched, but also sent down ten Sabercats down on strikes. The Sabercats manufactured their lone run in the 5th inning to give us our current score of 11-1. The two will continue the ballgame tomorrow evening in Minnetonka before the to duel once again with another doubleheader on Veterans Field

Next Up
North Central will be back in Minnetonka tomorrow evening as they will face-off with Maranatha once again in the final two games of the two-day, four game, series. The two will finish the final two innings of game number two before the day two series begins. Action will pick up at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow evening.
