Rams Finish the Night with Three Wins Over the Sabercats

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MINNETONKA, Minn. – North Central University (NCU) was in action once again on Friday evening taking on the Sabercats of Maranatha Baptist from Veterans Field in Minnetonka, Minnesota. The Rams and Cats first squared off in the final two innings of their suspended game from the night before. NCU allowed one run in the final two innings but still was able to come away with the 11-2 victory. NCU continued to find offensive momentum in the final two contest, but it was their pitching that helped them suffocate the Maranatha batters. The Rams finished with a total of 21 strikeouts in the final two games as they won by scores of 7-0 and 11-1.

GAME ONE RECAP
The Rams were the aggressors in game three of the four game series. NCU manufactured six runs on five hits, three of those hits being back-to-back triples from the bats of Chase Drill, Chris Harding, and Taylor Justice. The Rams saw just one more run cross the plate the rest of the contest, but their run support was all sophomore pitcher, Justin Torres (W, 1-2), needed as he was dialed in on the mound. The right-hander gave up just two hits in his 6.0 innings pitched, while also striking out 7 Maranatha batters as he secured the win in a 7-0 victory. Brandon Scott led all NCU batters with one hit and two runs batted in, bringing his season RBI total to nine.

GAME TWO RECAP
Senior, Andrew Kemper (W, 1-1) recieved the starting nod for the Rams in game number two, picking up right way he left off earlier this week. On Tuesday, March 26th, Kemper struck out 9 Crown batters in just 5.0 innings pitched. The Woodbury, Minnesota, product followed that impressive performance up with 11 strikeouts in 5.0 innings pitched.

NCU continued their hot streak at the plate, giving Kemper more than enough runs support to stay confident at the mound. The Rams finished game number two with nine total hits as they edged the Sabercats by a score of 11-1 to finish the four game sweep of Maranatha. Taylor Justice was a strong presence in the back end of the order as he tallied three hits and one run batted in to lead the Rams

Next Up
NCU will enjoy the weekend off as they prepare for some more action early next week. The Rams will take on the Knights of Martin Luther College on Tuesday, April 2nd, in a non-conference matchup back on Veterans Field in Minnetonka, Minnesota, at 9:00 a.m.
