Men's Tennis Picks Up Win Over Crown

CHASKA, Minn - For the second time this season the North Central University men's tennis team was victorious over Crown College. On Thursday afternoon the Rams took on the Storm in a non-conference matchup. The Rams came away with a narrow 5-4 victory to earn their second victory of the season.

NCU was led by strong singles play as they came away with four victories in six matches. Judah Smith played in the no.1 singles position and was bested by Caleb Baumann of Crown in straight sets. Josh Ekong fell in the no.2 singles position in straight sets. The Rams were able to pick up the remaining singles matches as Noah Ramsby won a three set thriller. Ramsby won the first set 7-6, before dropping the second set 6-7. In the third set he pulled off the win by a 10-8 margin. Rodrigo de Mendoza picked up a win in straight sets in the no.4 spot. Danny Williams and Ken Schrock each picked up wins in the no.5 and no.6 positions respectively.

In the doubles matches the Rams dropped the no.1 doubles matchup 2-8 as Micah Peterson and Josh Ekong were bested by Caleb Baumann and Joe Duffy. Noah Ramsby and Ken Schrock dropped the no.2 doubles match 2-8. Rodrigo de Mendoza and Caleb Van Natta sealed the match with an 8-4 victory in the no.3 doubles position.

The Rams will be back in action tomorrow for a Upper Midwest Athletic Conference matchup with Northwestern-St. Paul. The match is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m. at Northwestern-St. Paul.
