Rams Drop Two in Season Finale

ST. PAUL, Minn. - North Central University (NCU) hit the road on Friday evening as they made the short trip to cross town rival, the University of Northwester, for their final doubleheader of the season. Northwestern entered to matchups having already clinched a playoff spot but had an opportunity to possibly improve their postseason seeding. After falling behind early in game number one, Northwestern exploded offensively as they cruised to a 10-2 victory in game one, and turned around quickly to suffocate Ram's batters in game two as finished the afternoon with a series sweep taking game two 8-0.

GAME ONE RECAP
The Rams started with a bang in game number one as Emily Loop hammered a two run home run in the top half of the first frame to steal the momentum in the early going and take a 2-0 lead. Northwestern had no immediate  answer for NCU as they were held scoreless in the bottom half of the 1st, the Eagles broke out in the second inning, tying the game at 2-2. After a strong start, the Ram's bats went quiet, and as the offense faded for NU, the Eagles awakened bats continued to roll. Northwestern scored the final 10 runs of the ballgame as they topped the Rams by a score of 10-2 in just five innings in game number one. Emily Loop was the main highlight in the Ram's lineup as she finished with the home run in two at bats and a total of two runs batted in.

GAME TWO RECAP
The Northwestern offense did not skip a beat in game number two as they continued their string of runs. The Rams held the Eagles scoreless in the second inning, but Northwestern plated at least one run in every other inning. The Rams struggled to find spark on offense to hold pace with the Eagles, finishing with just one hit in game number two. The Eagles racked up a total of 12 hits as they cruised to their second victory of the afternoon finishing off the Rams by a score of 8-0 in five innings.

Season Wrap Up
That will do it for the 2019 campaign for the Rams. NCU finished their season with three wins, one coming from a huge UMAC victory over Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin. The Rams say good bye to their lone senior, Stephanie Caravalho. NCU will miss Caravalho's leadership on and off the field next season, but with just on graduating starter, the Ram's will look to build off the momentum made this season as head coach, Joe Waalk moves into his second season.
