Game Recap
The Rams came out with a chip on their shoulder and some defensive aggression. Bethany found a few scoring opportunities early, but it was the Rams who continue to tighten the clamps on the defensive end. Both teams struggled to find offensive momentum or any type of separation for much of the first half. With just under 10 minutes to play in the 1
st period, the Vikings broke the 0-0 tie with a goal that passed just outside the reach of goal keeper, Tieszen. After trailing at the break, the Rams seemed to settle back in on the defensive end, continuing to halt scoring attempts from the Vikings. Even with the ramped up pressure, Bethany was able to come loose in the 59
th minute to push their lead to two scores. With their backs against the wall, NCU found a seam up the middle that resulted in their first goal of the game to cut the lead to 1. The late game push gave the Rams a shot, but it was just not enough as the Vikings added an insurance goal in final minutes to win by a score of 3-1.
