Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Rams unable to maintain commanding lead against Lumberjacks in final minutes of play

ASHLAND, Wis. -- North Central University (NCU) hit the road for their final time of the 2019-2020 campaign as they headed to Ashland, Wis. to take on Northland College. The Rams held a 20-point halftime lead, but could not overcome Northland's effort on the offensive glass. The Lumberjacks coupled their nose for the ball on the glass with a hot second half shooting streak to storm all the way back and steal a win on their home court.

Game Recap

NCU came out of the gates with a ton of energy and built up an early lead on some impressive ball movement and big shots from behind the arc. After Sam Peterson connected on a powerful three-point play, the Rams led by a score of 31-16. After taking a 15-point lead, Northland closed the 1st half on a 13-10 run to head to the break down 12.

Following two three-point bombs in their first two possessions out of the break, the Rams saw themselves with an early 18-point lead. NCU eventually pushed their lead to 23 points, their largest of the game, at the 16-minute mark. Following two free-throws from the charity stripe with just 14 minutes to play, Northland began to turn the tide in their favor. The Lumberjacks connected on 7 three-pointers in the final 14 minutes as they outscored the Rams 46-21 to close the contest. Northland made 9 of 13 shots from behind the arc and finished with 20 second chance points, fueling their second half comeback.
