Rams make late game push, conclude spring trip with loss to Alverno

CLERMONT, FLA. -- North Central University (NCU) was in action for the final ballgame of their 2020 spring trip. The Rams found hits from three different players and scored late in the contest, but it was not enough to make a comeback on Alverno College. The Inferno exploded in the fourth and fifth innings producing back-to-back four run innings en route to a 9-1 victory over the Rams.

GAME RECAP
After the first inning and a half, neither club had been able to find much from the hitting department. It wasn't until the Inferno were able to manufactured a single in the bottom half of the second inning that we had our first hit of the ball game. The first hit of the game quickly turned into the first run of the game for Alverno as a sacrifice fly would bring the runner around to score. Following another set of quiet plate appearances in the third inning for both clubs, the Rams connected on their first hit of the game in the top of the fourth. Unfortunately for the Rams, it was a string of three outs that followed their base runner as they could not find away to get that runner back across the plate.

The Inferno heated up in the bottom haf of the fourth inning mustering up 4 runs on 5 hits to move their lead to five runs. Looking for some sort of response to Alverno's offensive production, NCU answered with hits from Emma Tish and Emma Bushey in the top half of the first. The duo of Emma squared resulted in the first run of the game for the Rams, cutting into their deficit. Following an answer from North Central, Alverno exploded again with another four run inning, ending the game early in just five innings by a score of 9-1.
