Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup didn't have the best weather, but the energy was superb. The Rams played hard but fell to the Knights 5-2.
Game Vitals
- The score at halftime was 1-1.
- Both teams had 22 shots and at least five corner kicks.
Game Recap
With a pretty packed crowd, the Rams went head-to-head with the Knights right away. Although MLC was able to get a goal early on, this didn't stop NCU's fight. From the backline forward, the Rams connected lots of passes together and obtained many scoring chances. In the 34
th minute, a MLC defender fouled the Rams in the box, giving
Weston Buckley (Budapest, HU, International Christian School of Budapest) a penalty kick. And
Buckley delivered, easily slotting it in the back of the net, tying the game 1-1 at half.
The Knights scored twice more in the second, yet the Rams didn't waver.
Elliott Lebsack (Kearney, NE, Kearney High School) got another goal for NCU in the 76
th minute assisted by
Jerad Buse (Kearney, NE, Kearney High School).
Lebsack and
Buckley both had five shots, with four and two on goal respectively. Closely following that was
Buse with four shots and two on goal. NCU never gave up throughout the 90 minutes despite the score and the crowd. They played their game through and through and look forward to hosting the Knights towards the end of the season.
