MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – After a win just the previous night, the North Central University (NCU) volleyball team got back on the court to face Martin Luther College (MLC) for another
Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup. The game went all the way to five sets resulting in a Knights' win (17-25, 12-25, 25-11, 25-11 ,15-7).
Game Recap
The Rams came out extremely strong despite their tiredness from the night before. The first two sets went to NCU in which the Rams pretty much dominated in all aspects, winning by more than seven in both sets. It was a big team effort at the front line with multiple players with a high number of kills.
Emily DiGiorgio (Ironwood, MI, Luther L. Wright High School) led with eight, then
Morgan Delange (Corsica, SD, Corsica-Stickney High School) and
Makayla Krohnberg (Blaine, MN, Blaine High School) with seven each. On the defensive side up front,
Jaselyn Anderson (Farmington, MN, Christian Life Academy) played big with six blocks and
DiGiorgio with five. The two seniors dominated the net making it hard for any of the MLC hitters to score.
The Knights came back to win the next two sets, tying the game. It came down to a lot of hustle plays that often happen on defense.
Krohnberg also aided in the back court with 20 digs, flying left and right to get the ball up for the Rams.
Hannah Fischer (Kenyon, MN, Kenyon Wanamingo High School) had a solid 15 digs also for NCU. The Knights ultimately won in the last set, leaving the Rams hungry to play them again down the road.
