Game Recap
Knowing the competition ahead of them, NCU was prepared for the talent and physicality of UWS as they took the field. The Yellowjackets scored in the first five minutes and were able to net five goals in the first half. Yet, the Rams were persistent in their play and on the attack.
Adam Vang (Green Bay, WI, Green Bay Southwest High School) had a shot that went just high over the goal in the first half and
Diego Zavala-Varela (Brooklyn Park, MN, Park Center Senior High School) also had a shot that was low and on target but was narrowly saved by the UWS keeper.
NCU used two of their keepers this afternoon. To start,
Sam Thurston (Crystal, MN, Robbinsdale Cooper) camped out in the goal and made fours saves. Then,
Luke Matteucci (Albuquerque, NM, La Cueva High School) came in to relief
Thurston and made a save of his own. NCU did have a few players out with injuries during this game that could have helped change the tide and outcome of this match.
Jerad Buse (Kearney, NE, Kearney High School) had a close kick in the second half that was just shy of the top of the net.
Camilo Casas (Cape Coral, FL, Ida S. Baker High School) and
Jordan Smith (Orlando, FL, Orlando Christian Prep) had late shots in the game that were both saved by the keeper. With the completion of this game, the second seeded UMAC team, the Yellowjackets, won both of their games against the Rams.
