MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The North Central University (NCU) women's soccer team played in their last
Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) game of the season. For their senior day, the Rams faced off against Bethany Lutheran College (BLC) with a final score of 5-2 for the Vikings.
Game Vitals
- While the Vikings had 43 shots, only five of them reached the back of the net.
- All of the goals were assisted except one.
Game Recap
BLC started off strong right from the whistle as they netted a goal within three minutes in the game. Further on, the Vikings scored two more goals in the next 20 minutes. However, this did not stop the Ram's fight and intensity. Composed of three seniors,
Lideeya Lwoy (Willmar, MN, Willmar Senior High School),
Rachel Lampton (Lake Villa, IL, Lakes Community High School), and
Hannah Fischer (Port Washington, WI, Living Word Lutheran High School) stopped attack after attack and cleared the ball multiple times up the field.
Arien Fritts (Ham Lake, MN, Fritts Homeschool Academy), NCU's goalie, had 18 saves, many of which were clearly going in, but
Fritts was able to get a hand or a foot on the kick in the last second.
Just five minutes before the half, the Rams were granted a free kick.
Hannah Grubbs (Mantua, OH, Newbury High School) crossed it in from the right side to
Kara Lewis (Mandeville, LA, Northlake Christian School) who found the back of the net. This momentum carried NCU into the second half. The previous Ram's scoring combo was reversed, and
Lewis assisted a
Grubbs' goal, making the score 3-2. While NCU's hustle was there, BLC was able to secure the win with two more goals late in the second half.
The Rams honored their five seniors,
Hannah Fischer,
Arien Fritts,
Hannah Grubbs,
Rachel Lampton, and
Lideeya Lwoy. The women's soccer program is thankful for their leadership, talent, and commitment over the years.
