Game Recap
NCU got two early goals, really setting the pace and tone of the game. The first was
Adam Vang (Green Bay, WI, Green Bay Southwest High School), slotting in a low cross from
Elliott Lebsack (Kearney, NE, Kearney High School), as
Lebsack played in his first game after an injury. Just two minutes later, midfielder
Weston Buckley (Budapest, HU, International Christian School of Budapest) netted a beautiful shot in the upper ninety, putting the Rams up by two very quickly. However, the Archers kept battling and didn't exactly make it easy for NCU. MBI scored with ten minutes to go in the first half. The Rams responded with another goal by
Anthony Medina (Elk River, MN), another great shot out of the keeper's reach. Medina's goal made the score 3-1 going into the halftime.
NCU started out strong in the second wanting to put this game away.
Jerad Buse (Kearney, NE, Kearney High School) played to
Lebsack out wide in the 54th minute and
Lebsack was able to drive and reach the back of the net for another NCU goal. Yet, the Archers were still determined and pressed on. In the next ten minutes, MBI scored twice narrowing the score to 4-3. The Rams held their composure and played simple out of the back despite the high emotions in the game.
Lebsack played
Buse behind the the Archer's backline and
Buse slotted it in for the final goal of the day. MBI definitely gave the Rams a good match, but the Rams were able to ride the waves and end up on top.
