ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. -- Eager for
Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play to begin, the North Central University (NCU) women's basketball team traveled to Crown College for their first conference matchup of the season. The Rams blew out the Storm with an easy 43 point win ending the game at 95-52.
Game Recap
NCU took off from the tip going on 11-0 run against CC. The Rams used their speed to push the ball in transition never letting the Storm rest. Furthermore, NCU used their height to dominate inside of the key. The three ball worked early for the Rams as they dropped three outside shots straight, one each by
Kadija Conteh (London, UK, City of London Academy) Aubrey Robinson (Colorado Springs, CO, Sierra High School), and
Emily DiGiorgio (Ironwood, MI, Luther L. Wright High School). The Storm fought their way back in the game a little bit in the second quarter, but NCU was still up by 21 at halftime.
All of the NCU players were able to find their way to the rim multiple times, including
Conteh and
DiGiorgio.
Conteh had many coast to coast drives and easily beat CC off the initial dribble, scoring a career high 33 points.
DiGiorgio had 26 points as she used her height advantage well in the paint and had post up after post up over the Storm. The team play for the Rams was unstoppable as they had 21 assists, forced 30 turnovers, tallied 9 blocks, and scored 21 fastbreak points.
This will be the Rams first and only
UMAC game before break as yesterday's game against the University of Minnesota Morris was postponed for a later date. Regardless, NCU effortlessly moves to 1-0 in the
UMAC and remains undefeated keeping their record clean at 9-0.
Key Performers
- Kadija Conteh was magnificent on the offensive end scoring 33 points. She also had five assists and four steals.
