Box Score KANSAS CITY, Miss. -- Coming off of a competitive DII matchup, the North Central University (NCU) women's basketball looked to blow out Calvary Bible, a
NCCAA North Region team. The Rams cruised over the Warriors, 96-33, as they moved to 10-0 on the season.
Game Recap
NCU wasted no time in their matchup with CB as they quickly jumped out to a 28-6 lead in the first quarter. The Rams were all over the court, pressuring up high on the back court, and sprinting to the corners for fast break three-point shots. The Warriors packed in the paint on defense, leaving NCU wide open outside the arc, quite a strength of this women's basketball team. The Rams drained 14 threes total, including a four from
Kadija Conteh (London, UK, City of London Academy) and three from
Mary Seegers (Oconomowoc, WI, Homeschool). At the half, NCU led 47-17.
The Rams did not let up on the gas pedal going into the third quarter as guards
Jocelyn Talso (Ramsey, MN, Spring Lake Park High School),
Aubrey Robinson (Colorado Springs, CO, Sierra High School), and
Bethany Shield (Lincoln, NE, Lincoln Southwest High School) continued to push the ball in transition. It was a total team effort as many of the NCU players made significant contributions.
Emily DiGiorgio (Ironwood, MI, Luther L. Wright High School) and
Naomi Hagstrom (Zimmerman, MN, Zimmerman High School) controlled the paint as they combined for 20 points and 16 rebounds. In fact, the Rams had 58 total rebounds, 26 of them being offensive which created plenty of extra possessions for NCU. The Rams' 26 steals created even more possessions which were assisted 20 times. The 40 minutes of play showed the strength, stamina, and depth of the NCU women's basketball team.
A couple points shy of another 100-point game, the Rams stay undefeated with first half of their season done and move to 10-0, continuing their best start in program history.
