MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The North Central University (NCU) men's basketball, coming off a two game win streak, hosted Maranatha Baptist University (MBU) in the nonconference matchup. A strong first half for the Rams led them over the Sabercats at 85-62.
Game Recap
An opening three pointer in the first nine seconds of the game by
Seth Fuqua (Colorado Springs, CO, The Vanguard School) set the tone for Rams. Then, just a minute, another three by
Fuqua reminded the Sabercats who they were up against. The first five minutes went to NCU as they went on a 13-3 run. The Rams forced a couple turnovers, got a block, and capitalized on the offensive end of the court. NCU did not back down for one second as they closed the half with a score of 44-19 discouraging any offense MBU did have.
Even after halftime, the Sabercats never regrouped enough to overcome the powerhouse that is the NCU men's basketball team. Many of the Rams chipped in tonight on the scoreboard, in the stat book, and on the bench serving up energy.
Cameron Thomas (Aurora, CO, Grandview High School) dominated in the paint as he led all players with 14 points. It was very much a team game as NCU racked up 24 assists on the night.
Griffin Trull (Sacramento, CA, Sacramento Adventist Academy),
Jonathan Thompson (Kansas City, MO, Park Hill South High School), and
Fuqua all had four assists each to help distribute the ball.
The Rams move on to win their third straight and fourth overall as they land on .500 eight games into the season.
Key Performers
- Cameron Thomas scored 14 points while grabbing seven rebounds and adding two blocks to his stats.
