MIller and Buse score first goals in loss to the Knights

NEW ULM, Minn. -- North Central University (NCU) men's soccer journeyed to MN this afternoon for their final regular-season competition of the Upper Midwestern Athletic Conference (UMAC ) against the Martin Luther College (MLC) Knights. The MLC's unyielding attack was reflected on the scoreboard, with a final score reading 2-5 in favor of the Knights.

 Game Recap

In the first half, Martin Luther was the first to strike, taking four shots before finding the net for the first time at the 10-minute mark. Goalie, Michael Machuca (Rock Island, IL, Rock Island High School) recorded 11 total saves in the match, and six were in the first period. After battling for 14 more minutes after the first goal, the ball found its way back into the Rams net to make the score 0-2 Rams. After another 10 minutes, the Knights secured another goal. At 29 minutes, Elliott Lebsack (Kearney, NE, Kearney High School) retaliated with an attack of his own that was saved by MLC's goalkeeper and followed up by Jerad Buse (Kearney, NE, Kearney High School), who tool two shots in the following minute. The score at the half was 0-3 Knights.

In the second period, Buse recorded his first goal of the season and the Rams' first goal of the match with an assist by Brady Miller (Shakopee, MN, Shakopee High School). A few more minutes passed before MLC responded with two goals in quick succession to set the score to 1-5. At 67 minutes, Miller got his first goal of the season with an assist from Buse . Both teams continued to battle for the remaining 23 minutes, but the final score read 2-5 at the 90-minute mark. Knights win.
