Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lots of Rams on the scoreboard as men's soccer win big

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Coming off of an exciting win on Wednesday, the North Central University (NCU) men's soccer team looked to repeat that performance as they took on Maranatha Baptist University (MBU) in a nonconference matchup at home. The Sabercats didn't stand a chance as the Rams netted goal after goal resulting in a score of 6-2.

Game Vitals
  • The Rams had 17 shots in the first half alone and 25 overall, compared the Sabercats' nine.
  • All of the NCU players got to see the field and stepped up in the big win over MBU.

Game Recap

A goal by Jerad Buse (Kearney, NE, Kearney High School) assisted by Elliott Lebsack (Kearney, NE, Kearney High School) in the first five minutes pretty much set the tone for the entire game. The Rams were well-poised in the back, passing circles around the Sabercats, patiently waiting for opportunities to get offensive players into the back line, which happened quite often. When the opportunity did arise, NCU was explosive in getting to ball and attacking MBU's defense. Adam Vang (Green Bay, WI, Green Bay Southwest High School) and Weston Buckley (Budapest, HU, International Christian School of Budapest) also netted a goal each in the first half for the Rams assisted by Buse and Evan Ackley (Sun Prairie, WI, Sun Prairie High School) respectively. Freshman Ackley put on a show in just his second collegiate game. He also put in his first two goals of the season late in the second half for NCU assisted by Buckley and Lebsack. To really drive it home, Lebsack got a goal of his with just a minute remaining in the game. Based on the Ram's performance thus far, they're going to be an exciting team to watch as they improve to 2-0.

Looking Ahead

NCU has a week to celebrate, rest, and get ready for conference play that begins next Saturday. The Rams will take on Northwestern University at 4 pm at home.
