Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Rams come close in four sets with the Scots

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The North Central University (NCU) volleyball team hopped just a city over to face Macalester College (MAC). The two teams fought hard against each other in the nonconference matchup. The Scots eventually overcame the Rams in four sets (15-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-16).

Game Recap

NCU walked onto the court ready to play from the first serve as they dominated the first set. Winning by ten points, the Rams had double the amount of kills as the Scots, had half the attack errors, and had four blocks to MAC's zero. Aiding in those blocks was senior Emily DiGiorgio (Ironwood, MI, Luther L. Wright High School) who played big at the net all night. DiGiorgio had a total of four block assists and two blocks. There were several key players in tonight's game including outside hitter Morgan Delange (Corsica, SD, Corsica-Stickney High School). Delange was an offensive weapon for the Rams with 11 total kills. Also providing aid on offense were Jaselyn Anderson (Farmington, MN, Christian Life Academy), Makayla Krohnberg (Blaine, MN, Blaine High School), and DiGiorgio who all had seven kills a piece. Krohnberg also had 11 digs to stop the Scot's attacks.

After winning the first set, NCU and MAC fought back and forth. The scores for the rest of sets were relatively close with lots of momentum changes throughout. Grace Brigson (West Salem, WI, West Salem High School) was active in all four sets with 30 assists to many different teammates. Brigson, along with senior Hannah Fischer (Kenyon, MN, Kenyon Wanamingo High School), had 11 digs. The Rams made some tweaks in between sets and in timeouts to try out different lineups and options. All of the NCU players brought great competitiveness to the game to charge the atmosphere with intensity and excitement. As the Rams make the short drive back home, they look forward to learning from this experience as they head into conference play.
