Dutch take Rams first game of the season

Box Score Pella, IA- The North Central University Rams women's basketball team hit the road to start the season to take on the Central College Dutch. The Dutch would have their way in the matchup after giving the Rams their first loss on the season with a score of 78-64.

In the first half, The Rams would come out with more of a slow start allowing the Dutch to really handle the game. The Rams rallies just weren't enough to keep up with the pace of the Dutch. Kaitlyn VanderPloeg (Clear Lake, IA) would have herself a great first half after picking up ten points and four rebounds in the first half. The rebounding between the two teams would remain almost dead even at the half with the Dutch leading the Rams 24-23 in the category. Both teams would head into half ready to make their adjustments with Central College leading 40-28.

In the second half, the Ram's adjustments would lead to a strong third quarter of basketball as they would outscore the Dutch 26-17 in the 3rd quarter alone to bring the game to 57-54 heading in to start the fourth. Mia Mabanag (Danville, CA) would have a great second half scoring ten points in the second half and nineteen points on the night. After bringing the score back to a one-possession game, the Rams fourth-quarter efforts were not enough as the Dutch were able to get going once more and pull away. The final score of the matchup would end with the Dutch taking the game, 78-64. Despite the loss, Joelle Talso (Ramsey, MN) had a huge night for the Rams, picking up a double-double with twenty-one points along with thirteen rebounds and another six assists in a dominant performance.

Looking ahead:
The Rams look to bounce back after the loss against  Alverno College at home on Saturday, November 12 at 1:00 pm.
