Box Score Minneapolis, MN- The North Central Rams men's basketball team kicked the season off with a game against the Augsburg University Auggies. The Rams would give up the lead late giving the Auggies a 76-74 comeback win against the Rams.
Both teams started off slow offensively in the first game of the season for both squads. As the game went on, both squads started to get into a rhythm. The Rams struggled with fouls throughout the game and it showed early, as they started to fall behind as they trailed the Auggies by as much as seven. The Rams would take a timeout and begin a roll as they would take command of the game and went on a 17 to 5 run to end the first half putting the score at 31-26 in favor of the Rams at the break.
Cameron Thomas (Aurora, CO) would lead the Rams in scoring with his eight points heading into the half.
In the second half, the Rams came out the half firing on all cylinders as they went on a massive run to give themselves a 17-point lead at 56-39.
Caden Freetly (Farmington, MN) would score eleven second-half points along with
Tanner Holtman (Aurora, CO) scoring ten of his own in the half. However, the Rams would find themselves getting into heavy foul trouble and picking up two technical fouls. With the sloppy play, the room was allowed for the Auggies to come back and they did just that. They would go on a 25-8 run to tie the game at 64 with just four minutes remaining in the game. The Rams foul trouble continued and the Auggies were able to finish strong and complete the comeback with a score of 76-74.
