Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

NCU Dominates in Win over Rival Crown College

Minneapolis, MN -- North Central University (NCU) men's basketball team played their second game of the weekend (12/10) at Clark-Danielson Gymnasium. In the second game of conference play for the year, NCU took on the rival Crown College (CC). North Central would go on to win the big rivalry game in a final score of 69-53.

In the first half of action, both teams got off to a slow start. Strong defensive efforts and some missed opportunities left the score at just 13-12 in favor of the Rams 10 minutes into the game. After the timeout at this point in the contest, Micah Filer caught fire. Already having eight points, Filer continued to lace the ball from all over the court, finishing with 20 in the half. The Polars would continue to fight despite the hot start from the Rams star. At the end of the opening half, the Rams would lead by just 4 with the score being 30-26.

Coming out of the break, NCU came out firing on all cylinders. Tanner Holtman took momentum, splashing home back-to-back 3-pointers. The rest of the Ram's second-half starters continued to put the pressure on, getting everyone involved and extending the lead to 46-33. As the game continued, things would slow down. Both squads went back and forth with the leading remaining around 12 points for NCU. With about 4 minutes left in the game, Crown was able to bring the score back to single digits. Getting back-to-back buckets and taking some momentum. In a big moment in the game, Cameron Thomas came up with a huge momentum-shifting 3-pointer, followed by a fast break layup pushing the NCU lead back to 13. As the game would come to an end, North Central would finish in out in dominating fashion.
