Box Score Minneapolis, MN -- North Central University (NCU) Rams women's basketball played Crown College (CC) at the Clark-Danielson Gymnasium Saturday (12/10). The Polars played against their former coach Leah Szabla in a rival game that the Rams took over. North Central had their second victory of the weekend, winning 58-46.
Both teams had a slow start as they chipped away with a few shots sporadically in the first quarter. NCU took a small deficit before ending the quarter on top thanks to aggressive defense leading to turnovers. Quarter two was a back-and-forth fight with both sides sinking shots from the paint.
Mia Mabanag lit a spark in the Rams as she sealed the first half with a clutch jump shot. North Central came out ahead at the half with a 26-24 lead.
As the third quarter showed remarkable defense,
Caitlyn Ryan broke the intense tie about halfway through. A 15-3 run by the Rams helped to solidify their dominance in this game. As the Rams gained even more momentum in the final quarter,
Kaitlyn VanderPloeg shut down CC's shooting with some suffocating defensive blocks and effective rebounding. Blue and Gold secured their victory with
Piper Flemming drilling a final three with 15 seconds remaining. North Central continues their winning streak, beating Crown 58-46.
