MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The North Central University (NCU) women's basketball team hosted Martin Luther College (MLC) for a Friday night
Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup. The Rams played a dominate first half over the Knights to ultimately give them the win 86-71.
Game Recap
NCU opened the game firing on all cylinders and came out with a 15-3 run over MLC. The Knights did fight back a little towards the end of the first quarter, but the Rams were still up by ten. NCU jumped on MLC in the second quarter with their press defense, causing chaos all over the court for the Knights. The Rams forced 16 turnovers in the first half and only had three of their own. It was the explosive offense for NCU that really shut down MLC's energy.
Aubrey Robinson (Colorado Springs, CO, Sierra High School) hit some early three's, having four in total. The Rams went into halftime up 48-23.
NCU didn't let up going into the third quarter, either feeding it into post
Emily DiGiorgio (Ironwood, MI, Luther L. Wright High School) or having
Kadija Conteh (London, UK, City of London Academy)Â take it all the way to the rim. The Knights were able to cut down the Ram's lead, but the lights out shooting from NCU was too much for MLC to overcome. The Ram's shot 53% from the field and 45% from the three point line. Furthermore, NCU controlled the paint scoring 42 points in the key. It was an overall team effort for the Rams as they had five players in double figures, and with everyone seeing the court.Â
With this win, NCU moves to 21-3 and 10-3 in the
UMAC.
Key Performers
