CLERMONT, FL. -- The North Central University (NCU) softball team opened up their season this afternoon against Regis College (Mass.) on their Florida trip. With a score of 9 to 5, the Rams secured their first win against the Pride starting the week of strong.

Off to a great start, in the bottom of the first, the Rams scored their first two runs. It all started when freshman Sydney Harmon drew a walk to first base. Harmon advanced to second base on a single by sophomore Selma Carrasco. Scoring the first run for the team, Harmon made it home on an error, while Carrasco advanced to third base. Stepping up to bat, Aurora Prettyman reached on an error sending Carrasco to score the 2nd run for the team.

Holding the Regis Pride runless in the top of the second, the Rams scored another run in the bottom of the second by Kali Kahalekomo on a single by Harmon. After singling to start the inning, Kahalekomo stole 2nd base and was pushed over home plate by a single from Harmon giving the Rams a 3-0 advantage over the visitors.

Both teams were held scoreless in the 3rd inning while Regis got two runs back in the top of the 4th drawing within run one of the Rams, 3-2.

A flurry of activity greeted Regis in the bottom of the 4th inning when the Rams scored 6 runs.
