Game Recap: Softball |

Rams take two tough losses in third day of Spring Game Tournament

CLERMONT, Flor. -- The North Central University (NCU) softball team looked to bounce back from yesterday's double header into today's with matchups against the Concordia College (CC) Cobbers and the Rose-Hullman (RH) Fightin' Engineers. The Rams dropped both games 1-8 and 3-6 respectively in their second day of double headers.

Game One Recap

It was a tough seven innings for the Rams as the Cobber's offense dominated most of the game. The first inning was a shut out, but the second gave CC two runs. The third went the same as the first, and the fourth gave the Cobber's three more runs. CC scored three more runs in the last three innings to put them up 8-0. At the bottom of the seventh, Brooke McGlinchey (Belle Plaine, MN, ) homered to left filed and brought in the Rams only run of the game. Lindsey DeJong (St. Charles, MO, St. Charles High School) was active at first base with six outs.

Game Two Recap

The Rams got the first score of the game in the first inning with a run from Cochran. The Engineers quickly followed suit scoring in the bottom of the first. The second and third innings were uneventful as the fielding and pitching from both teams stepped it up. The Rams infield composed of third baseman McGlinchey, shortstop Selma Carrasco (El Paso, TX, Mountain View High School), second baseman Isabella Gallardo (Austin, TX, ), and first baseman Lily Adams (White Bear Lake, MN, White Bear Lake Area High School) locked down RH's batters in these two innings.

In the fourth inning, Eden Ryan (Omaha, NE, ) singled and off a bad throw from the Engineers, Delaney Riddle (Lake Stevens, WA, ) and McGlinchey came across home plate to put NCU up 3-1 at the bottom of the fourth. The next two innings were an explosion of offensive for RH as the recorded six unanswered runs. The Rams were unable to score after this, giving the Engineers the 6-3 victory.
