North Central Rams men's soccer get home opener victory

Box Score Minneapolis, MN - The North Central University Rams got their first victory of the season in their home opener against the Providence Manitoba Pilots. The Rams were able to take the victory with a final score of 3-1 with some big performances along the way.

The first half of the game was very hard fought, but neither team was able to find the back of the net. The Pilots had four shots in the first half with the Rams only having two. After the break, the shots and goals started for both teams.

Getting in the scoring column first for the rams was senior, Weston Buckley, who scored in the 53rd minute and eight minutes into the second half to give the Rams a 1-0 lead. In the 75th minute, the Pilots were able to tie up the score at one a piece with just under fifteen minutes to play in the match.

In the 81st minute, Freshman Alex Chacich was credited with the tie-breaking goal with a crossing attempt that deflected off the defender at into the net, giving the Rams a 2-1 lead. Chacich tallied his second of the game moments later in the 87th minute to give the Rams a two-goal lead with just over two minutes left to play. The final would end with a 3-1 victory for the Rams. 

Jared Buse was very impressive in net for the Rams, facing eighteen shots and only giving up the lone goal. The goalkeeper for the Rams made many key stops throughout the game to help solidify the victory for the Rams.

In their next game, the men head to Viterbo University (WI) on September 7th at 5:00 PM for their first matchup on the road.
