Box Score Superior, WI -- The North Central University (NCU) women's basketball team plays their second contest of the weekend against the UW- Superior Yellowjackets (UWS). NCU showed their consistency, scoring a steady 16 points every quarter. Superior couldn't find an advantage as the Rams prevail on the road winning 64-51.
The game started in a defensive battle, as both teams had a slow time earning their buckets. Momentum picked up when
Kaitlyn VanderPloeg hit back-to-back shots gaining 5 points. The last four minutes of the quarter was all North Central, as their 9-point run went uncontested.
Kayla Hola's defensive rebounds in quarter 2 led to some quick buckets at the other end. Downtown U gained yet another scoring streak to widen the lead. Taking charge wasÂ
Joelle Talso with multiple threes and jump shots late in the half. The Rams headed into the locker room leading 32-22.
North Central was fired up to start the second half with an aggressive edge, forcing 2 quick turnovers. This led to some UW fouls and opportunities on the line. Even with the sizzling start, Superior would not go away. The Yellowjackets managed to get back to a 5-point differential thanks to a 9-0 run. Luckily, the Blue and Gold didn't allow their offense to continue in the fourth quarter as UWS only scored 8 more points.
Bryce Brewster started out the fourth quarter with a quick steal and fastbreak layup to build on the NCU momentum. VanderPloeg then scored on three offensive possessions in a row. That stretch was the start of a 12-0 run that put the Rams up 15 with under two minutes to play, solidifying a Rams victory. After the final buzzer, your North Central Rams walked away with an impressive 64-51 win, going 2-0 on the weekend.
