Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Rams Win Final Home Game of the Year With Sweep Over Lumberjills

Minneapolis, MN -- After falling to Wisconsin-Superior last night in three sets, the North Central University (NCU) volleyball team would host the Lumberjills from Northland College (NC) for their final home game of the season. Earlier in the year, Northland defeated North Central 3-1 on their home court in Ashland. However, in their final regular season game in the Clark-Danielson Gymnasium, the Rams would get revenge by sweeping the Lumberjills 3-0.

In set one, the Lumberjills would take an early lead as they would go on a 4-0 run. However, the Rams would then go on a 4-0 run themselves as they were able to tie it at four apiece. NC would then retake the lead as they were able to score three in a row to make it 7-4 in their favor. After a Lumberjills' attack error, a kill by freshman Cora Tippie, and a service ace by junior captain Jada Lee the Rams were able to tie things once again. Sydney Carlson would get back-to-back kills as the Rams would have their first lead of this set at 9-8. Northland would tie the set on a couple of occasions, but the Rams would retake the lead and stay out in front to finish set one. North Central would win an exciting set one by a score of 25-21.

In set two, North Central would jump out to an early 3-1 lead. The Lumberjills would fight back and take a 6-5 lead over the Rams. NCU would retake the lead at 7-6 and stay out in front for the rest of the set. NCU would be led by Huhta with 5 kills and Tippie and Carlson who each had 4 kills, respectively. The Rams would win set two by a score of 25-16.

After winning back-to-back sets, North Central would have all the momentum they needed as they were able to find an early lead once again. The Rams would jump out in front with a score of 3-2 and stay ahead of the Lumberjills for the rest of the match. Grace Brigson would lead the team with 24 assists. Defensively, the Rams were led by libero Maci Tripp with 16 digs, followed by Jada Lee with 15 and Katie Martin with 8. NCU would complete the sweep of Northland winning the third and final set 25-15.
