Minneapolis, MN -- This afternoon, the North Central University (NCU) women's soccer team took to the pitch once more for their final conference regular season home game against the University of Minnesota Morris (UMM) Cougars. The last time these teams met, the Cougars won a 6-0 shutout as they outshot the Rams 30-10 in Morris. Today, North Central had much-improved play out of their offensive attack as the team outshot the UMM squad; however, those opportunities did not convert into points as Morris would win in shutout fashion once again, this time by a score of 3-0.
In the first half, NCU had a total of five shots with three of them being off the foot of senior Kara Lewis. Unfortunately, the Rams were unable to get the ball past the Cougars' goalkeeper. Morris would outshoot the Rams as they totaled eight shots in the first half of the game. In the 26th minute, the Cougars would find the back of the net giving themselves a 1-0 lead. The clock would run down and Morris would go into halftime with a 1-0 lead over North Central.
In the second half, the Rams were able to flip the script and outshoot the Cougars 8-4. However, like the first half, the Cougars' keeper would be able to handle the Rams' offensive attack and shut out NCU in the second half as well. The Cougars were able to score two more goals in the 63rd and 74th minutes of the game as they were able to claim the victory 3-0 over NCU.
