Madison, WI -- Today, the North Central University (NCU) Women's Basketball team traveled to Madison, WI to face off against the Edgewood College Eagles. NCU would struggle offensively as the team shot just 27.4% from the field in this one. The Rams would be handed their first loss as they fell to the Eagles by a score of 83-55.
The Eagles would get on the board first as they scored four points within the first 30 seconds of the game. Three points from Brycelyn Brewster and a 3-pointer by NiNi Davenport would give the Rams a 6-4 lead over the Eagles. Edgewood would eventually tie it at six apiece and sink two free throws to retake the lead at 8-6. After tying the game, The Eagles would go on an unbelievable 18-0 run as they shutout the Rams. NCU shot an abysmal 9.52% from the field in the first quarter. The second quarter would be much of the same for North Central as the team would score just 10 points. Meanwhile, the Eagles would build on a 24-point first quarter by scoring 22 points in the second as they led North Central heading into halftime by a score of 46-16.
In the second half, the Rams would look to answer back as they scored four points to open up the second half With 8 minutes to go in the third quarter, NCU would find some offensive rhythm as they went on an 8-0 run, six of those points coming from Mia Mabanag. The rest of the quarter would be fairly evenly matched as both teams would score 20 points to make the score 66-36. In the fourth quarter with the score at 81-40 in favor of the Eagles, the Rams would score 13 points in a row to try and claw their way back into the game. However, time would run out and Edgewood would hand North Central their first loss of the season with a score of 83-55.
