Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Women's Volleyball Completes the Season Sweep Over Crown

St. Bonifacius, MN -- Tonight, North Central University (NCU) Volleyball headed out to St. Bonifacius to take on the Polars of Crown College (CC). This would be the fourth game in their five game road trip. The last time these two teams met, NCU was able to sweep Crown in three sets. The Rams would be able to earn the season sweep of the Polars as they won this one 3-0.

In set one, the two teams would go back and forth. Eventually with the score tied up at eight, North Central would take a 9-8 lead off a big kill from middle hitter Lexie Semrau. After this, the Rams never looked back as they stayed out in front of the Polars for the rest of the game. Set one ended with Sydney Carlson getting back-to-back kills to secure set one for NCU by a score of 25-18.

In set two, North Central would get out in front early off a kill from Lexie Semrau. NCU would gain momentum and lead Crown for the rest of set two as they won this one 25-10. The offensive effort in set two was led by Lola Huhta who had six kills followed by Semrau with five. Lily McCarty would also pick up 10 assists in the set.

Winning sets one and two got the Rams rolling as they were able to take control of set three right away. With the score tied at one a piece, Lexie Semrau would get another kill to kickstart a North Central run that would give them the 5-1 lead over Crown. The Polars would briefly interrupt the Rams scoring streak, but NCU would come right back and go on a 6-0 run to make the score 11-2. A kill from Cora Tippie, an error by the Polars, and back-to-back kills from Montanna Sykora would secure the Rams a season sweep over the Polars. NCU would win set three by a final score of 25-12.

Offensively, the Rams were led once again by Sydney Carlson with 13 kills on the night, followed by Lexie Semrau and Lola Huhta each with eight. Freshman setter Lily McCarty would have 25 assists. Defensively, Katie Martin would lead the Rams in digs with 22.
