Minneapolis, MN -- After beating Spurgeon College in the NCCAA Regional play-in game, #5 North Central University (NCU) women's soccer would move on in the tournament to take on the Pilots from #1 Providence University College PUC). The two teams last met on September 1st in which the Pilots beat the Rams by a score of 6-2. Providence would beat NCU for the second time this year as the Rams fell by a score of 2-1.
The Pilots were able to put themselves up early as they scored a goal just 51 seconds into the game. Eventually, in the 28th minute, senior Kara Lewis would pass to fellow senior in Isabella Connell who would score to even things up at one. This would be Connell's fifth goal on the season. Nearing the end of the first half, Providence would be able to score another goal off a free kick attempt as they took a 2-1 lead over North Central. The Rams would head into halftime trailing by one.
Providence would be able to shut down the Rams' offense in the second half as North Central would be unable to find the back of the net. NCU would also not allow any goals themselves. Providence would win by a score of 2-1 as they move on to the NCCAA North Regional Final tomorrow.
