River Falls, WI -- Today, the North Central University (NCU) men's basketball team kicked off the UWRF Radisson Holiday Classic against the 7th-ranked Warhawks of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (UWW). The Rams would start off hot going on an 11-0 run to start the game, holding their lead over the Warhawks for the rest of the first half. However, NCU would be unable to hold its lead over Whitewater as the Warhawks would come back in the second half to win this one by a score of 95-74.
The first half would be all Rams as Nik Feller would sink three 3-pointers in a row to start the game. Feller would score a total of 11 points within the first couple of minutes to give NCU an early 11-0 lead. The Warhawks would slowly chip away at the Rams' lead as they would put themselves within three by the end of the half. The teams would go into the break with NCU leading UWW 48-45. Feller would have an impressive first half as he had a team-leading 18 points including four threes.
Looking to capitalize on momentum from the end of the first, Whitewater would open up the second scoring four points off a layup and a midrange jumper. This would give the Warhawks their first lead of the game. Feller would be the Rams' answer as he would make a layup and NCU would retake the lead at 50-49. However, Whitewater would be able to make a jumper right away to give themselves a 51-50 lead. From here, the Warhawks offense found their footing as they would slowly increase their lead over the Rams. NCU would be unable to regain their footing in the second half as they would fall to #7 Whitewater by a score of 95-74.
