Box Score Minneapolis, MN -- The North Central University (NCU) women's basketball went neck-in-neck with UW Superior (UWS) in the Clark-Danielson Gymnasium for their Friday contest. The Rams came out with an impressive W over the Yellowjackets, winning 63-57. This victory has them tied for second in the conference as they are heading into the season's final games.
North Central was able to jump out to an early lead by collecting 8 consecutive points in the paint led by
Kaitlyn VanderPloeg. Superior would try their best to fight back, but continued to trail by just a few possessions for the remainder of the quarter. UWS's back-to-back threes in the second quarter got some wind in their sails, but our Rams still kept the lead thanks to
Bryce Brewster's consistent scoring. NCU went to the locker room for an intermission with a close lead of 31-29.
Out the gates, North Central once again earned a dominant start with shots made by a variety of Blue and Gold players. The Yellowjackets were fighting with everything they had to take their first lead of the game, but key blocks and boards by
Kayla Hola gave them no chance. Hola also showed an impressive offensive presence tonight leading the Rams in scoring. The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth battle with UWS trailing by an average of 7. Any time Superior would gain some hope, DowntownU would respond with an impressive three-point play. With a well-earned shutdown, the Rams came out in a solid victory, winning 63-57.
