Virginia Beach, VA — NCU Rocket League caught a plane this weekend and traveled out east to Virginia for the "Collision on the Coast" tournament hosted by Virginia Wesleyan University. This was the programs first time competing in a LAN tournament. While most matches are played remotely online, a LAN (Local Arena Network) is an in-person esports tournament. North Central University came in as the 13th seed and faced many well established esports teams. The team would go 1-2 on the weekend.
Match 1: NCU vs University of New Haven (0-2 L)
Due to event limitations the Rocket League team was unable warmup for their opening match against 4th seed New Haven. Despite this they were able to keep the team to only 2 goals. Deciding to play more aggressive in the game 2, NCU left themselves vulnerable on the defensive end, leading to defeat.

Match 2: NCU vs Columbia International University (2-1 W)
Following their opening match loss to New Haven, the team would be knocked down to the losers bracket. Here against 12th seed CIU, the Rocket League team tasted their first LAN victory. CIU quickly responded to their match 1 mistakes by bolstering their defense and winning on counter attacks in the second match. NCU determined to bring home a win, brought the third game to overtime where
Andre "Blyze" Muteba was able to score the series winning goal.

Match 3: NCU vs Dayton (0-2 L)
Due to match delays, NCU went into their third matchup against 7th seed Dayton cold. Dayton came in hot scoring 7 goals in the first game, with NCU unable to get any of their shots to find the back of the net. NCU displayed better defensive resistance in game two, but were still unable to find success on the offensive attack, ultimately losing 0-4.
