Game Recap: Baseball |

Multiple Errors and Walks Lead to a Rams Loss in Nebraska

Lincoln, NE-- Rams Baseball finished up their three-game series against Nebraska Wesleyan. A strong first inning led to North Central having a successful early game, but late-game struggles haunted the team today. Errors and walks would lead to a 23-2 loss for the Blue and Gold.

The Rams would start off with a multi-hit first inning grabbing an early two-run lead. Michael Escalante would get the bats going for North Central and Mike Maanum would follow it up with a line drive to center field. Casey Welsh would bring home their first run of the game with a line drive to right field. Maanum would later score the second and final run for the Blue and Gold on a wild pitch. Nebraska Wesleyan would score two of their own in the bottom of the first and the game would remain tied until the bottom of the fourth. Multiple errors and walks would lead to a big inning in the bottom of the fourth for the Prairie Wolves and they wouldn't let the Rams come back. The final score of today's game was 23-2 in favor of Nebraska Wesleyan.

Key Performers:

  • Casey Welsh (Pequot Lakes, MN) went 1-3 with a single and the Rams' only RBI on the day.
  • Mike Maanum (Fergus Falls, MN) had two hits in four plate appearances, scoring a run in the process.

Looking Ahead: The Rams will travel to River Falls on Saturday, March, 25th to play Augsburg University in a neutral site doubleheader starting at 1 pm CT.
