Game Recap: Baseball |

North Central's Early Game Struggles Lead to Their Sixth Loss in a Row

Fort Meyers, FL -- Rams baseball would struggle in the early innings of today's game against the Haverford Fords. Miscommunications on the defensive side lead to quick runs for Haverford. The Rams would score two runs today in their loss.

Sophomore Teagan Burch would get the start on the mound for NCU in this early afternoon match up. He would give up a walk to start the bottom half of the inning, and the baserunner would advance to third off of a botched pick off move. An error would score the runner and more runs would be given up as the Rams would go down four at the end of the inning. The defense would forget about the mistakes in the first and make a great defensive stand for the next inning. After a bases loaded hit by pitch scoring Haverford's fifth run, Cole Graham would come in relief to hold the runners. One more run would cross the plate for the Fords making the game six to zero. North Central would start the fourth inning by getting their first three batter on the bases, but after a double play, scoring chances were looking grim. Graham would step up to the plate with runners on second and third. He hit a line drive right up the middle scoring two. These would be the only runs the Blue and Gold would score on the day. Great defense from both sides would make this game fly by with lots of 1,2,3 innings from both sides. North Central falls to 0-6 on the year after today's loss.

Key Performers:
  • Julian Encinas (Tucson, AZ) went 2-3 with a double, walk, and a run scored.
