Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Ends Game Knotted 1-1 With UNW

Minneapolis, MN -- After falling to Northland College in Ashland eariler this week, the Rams came home as they hosted the Eagles from the University of Northwestern (UNW) this afternoon. Both teams entered today's game seeking their first Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) win. NCU would hold UNW to one goal all game despite the Eagles getting 26 shots off. However, the Ram's offense could only muster one score as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

In the first half, UNW outshot NCU 14 shots to 3. Despite this, the Rams were able to hold the Eagles to one goal in the half. That UNW came in the 29th minute of the half. Five minutes later, the Rams would get a corner kick in which freshman Rodrigo Burgos (South Saint Paul, MN) would find sophomore Alex Chacich (Hibbing,MN) in the box who then headed the ball in for his fourth goal on the season. Neither team was able to find the back of the net again as the first half ended with an even score of 1-1.

In the second half, a handful of cards were handed out as the teams combined for a total of 10 yellow cards in the second half. In the 87th minute, the Rams would be afforded a golden opportunity to score as Burgos drew a penalty kick. Unfortunately, Burgos's shot was blocked by the UNW keeper, spoiling an opportunity for NCU to gain a lead. In net for North Central, senior captain Jerad Buse (Kearney, NE) would have a solid outing with 9 total saves. Neither team would find the back of the net again, as time ran out ending today's game in a 1-1 tie.

Today's box score can be found here.
