Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lebsack Records Two Goals to Lead Rams to Victory Over the Beavers

Minneapolis, MN -- North Central University (NCU) Men's Soccer played host to the Buena Vista University (BVU) Beavers yesterday afternoon. Feeling good from their opening home win last week, the team was clearly energized and in sync. Senior captain Elliott Lebsack (Kearney, NE) had himself an absolute day, scoring 2 highlight reel goals to carry his team to a 2-0 win over BVU, opening up the season on a two-game win streak.

The action was intense early, with a shot on goal for either team in the first minute. NCU would put points up first, with a goal in the 22nd minute off the foot of Elliott Lebsack, assisted by Anthony Medina (Elk River, MN). Buena Vista, however, would ramp up their offensive attack, totaling 15 shots in the first half compared to just 6 by North Central. NCU would have another great scoring opportunity late in the first half, but the play was called off due to a close offside call. With a couple of BVU shots hitting the crossbar, the Rams would escape half one with a 1-0 lead.

To start the second half of play, NCU would continue to struggle to stay on sides, getting called for offsides 3 times in the first 15 minutes of play. The second goal of the game was a beauty, once again off the foot of Lebsack in the 71st minute. The talented NCU forward single-handedly blew past the center of the Beaver's defense, flipping the ball over the head of not one, but two BVU defenders to then tap it in past the goalkeeper. Elliot Park was in uproar at the masterful display of control and foot talent. With all momentum on the home team's side, the visiting BVU Beavers had a steep uphill battle to get back into this one. Goalkeeper Jerad Buse (Kearney, NE) followed his impressive game one with yet another imposing performance, totaling 10 saves and zero allowed goals. The Rams would go on to secure their second win of the season, defeating Buena Vista 2-0.
