Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Rams Defeat the Sabercats in 3-0 Sweep

Minneapolis, MN – Saturday, the North Central University (NCU) women's volleyball team returned to Minneapolis for a home matchup against the Maranatha Baptist University (MBU) Sabercats. The first meeting between these two squads resulted in a quick 3-0 win for the Rams at the Faith Baptist Volleyball Classic back in September. Today, NCU would come out to play once more, as the team took care of business in three sets to defeat the Sabercats.

The first set was off to a tight start, with the teams trading points. With the match at 5-4, the Rams rattled off 7 straight points to take a commanding 12-4 lead. NCU saw an impressive six-serve streak from senior captain Jada Lee. While MBU attempted to fight back, the Rams ultimately won the first set 25-18. Sydney Carlson, Lexie Semrau, and Brianna Brown all had 3 kills each to lead the way for NCU.

Set number two unfolded favorably for the Rams once again. NCU began the set on fire, as they opened with a 12-1 lead. Freshman Ari Klein served seven times in a row consecutively, including three aces, while Lexie Semrau owned the middle of the net with 2 kills and a block assist. After numerous runs by both squads, the Rams saw victory once again in the second set, winning 25-13. Freshman Erica Tormanen came alive with 5 kills to lead all hitters.

The Rams were in action early in the third set, dominating the MBU with a 9-2 score early on. NCU's Maggie Kohl got rolling for the Rams with 5 kills to bring her total to 8 on the afternoon to lead her team. North Central's hitters did a fantastic job of finding their lines all afternoon, not allowing a single block by the blockers of the Maranatha. NCU defeated Maranatha 25-15, ultimately winning the match 3-0 at home. Grace Brigson, Kenedi Patin, and Taylor Soung each played one set and recorded 11 set assists.

Looking Ahead:

The Rams will travel to Ashland, Wisconsin next Friday, October 25th to take on Northland College for the second time this season. The match will start at 7:00 PM.
