St. Bonifacius, MN -- This morning, the North Central University (NCU) men's soccer team traveled to St. Bonifacius to face the Crown College (CC) Polars. This would be the second face-off between these two competitors. Previously this season, the Rams were held scoreless on their Senior Day as the Polars came away with the 3-0 victory in Minneapolis. Today, North Central's lone goal from sophomore standout
Alvin Wlejleh was not enough to keep pace with Crown. NCU lost 5-1 when it was all said and done.
Freshman
Peyton Carselowey got the start in goal for the Rams. It did not take long for the Polars to score as Crown went up 1-0 after just 80 seconds gone. CC continued to put pressure on the NCU defense before they eventually found the back of the net once more with a goal at the 11th-minute mark. Before the Rams could create a single shot, the Polars scored again to go up 3-0 in the 18th minute. Needing to respond, NCU went on the offensive. Freshman
Kefeyen Tita took the ball off a Crown defender just past the mid-field line and found
Alvin Wlejleh, who raced past three Polar defenders to score NCU's only goal of the match. North Central trailed 3-1 headed into the half.
Starting the second half with a bang, Crown College capitalized with another goal in the 51st minute to go up 4-1.
Ricardo Vera Martinez had the Ram's only shot on goal of the second half, but the Crown keeper would deny his attempt. In the 75th minute of the match, the Polars would all but seal it with another goal to stretch the lead to four. Crown would be able to milk away the clock as they walked away with the 5-1 win over North Central.
