Superior, WI -- The North Central University (NCU) volleyball team hit the road as they traveled to Superior, Wisconsin to face the University of Wisconsin Superior (UWS) Yellowjackets for the second time this season. In their previous face-off, the Rams were dealt a 3-0 loss as the Superior's high-octane offensive proved too much for North Central. This afternoon, NCU put up a valiant effort that would not be enough to overcome the UWS attack. After a close first set, UW-Superior went on to take sets two and three to sweep the Rams 3-0.
NCU trailed early in set one as they worked to find their stride. Eventually,
Hailey Lerfald and
Erica Tormanen started to heat up as they led North Central back to within one point at 16-15. UWS responded to finish out the set strong with a 25-20 set win. Lerfald led with 4 kills as the Rams hit .242 percent in set one.
North Central led 3-1 to start the second set of the match. That lead would quickly start to dwindle as the attack errors started to rack up in NCU's box score. The Rams totaled 8 errors while Superior had a perfect set hitting .400.
Erica Tormanen led with 4 kills in the second set as NCU fell 25-17.
UW-Superior caught fire in the third and never looked back as they opened up a 13-13 lead. NCU struggled to find kills as the team only totaled 7 kills in the set. The Yellowjackets won set three 25-13 in commanding fashion and handed North Central a 3-0 defeat.
Erica Tormanen totaled 11 kills to set a new season high.
Grace Brigson totaled 23 assists and 12 digs to lead all Rams.
Looking Ahead:
The Rams will return home to Clark-Danielson Gymnasium on Saturday, November 2nd for a home game against the Vikings from Bethany Lutheran. The game is set to begin at 1:00 PM.
