Minneapolis, MN -- The North Central University (NCU) men's soccer team celebrated its "Senior Day" Saturday against the Crown College (CC) Polars. During pregame, North Central honored its lone senior
Diego Zavala Varela for all that he has contributed to NCU Men's Soccer. Once competition began, it would be all Crown as the Polars scored after just 90 seconds of play and rode that momentum to a 3-0 victory.
Crown College got on the board early with a goal in the just before the two-minute mark. Before NCU could create a scoring chance in response, the Polars struck again in the 16th minute to take a 2-0 lead. North Central struggled to get any shots on goal as their first of the game came from
Alvin Wlejleh in the 28th minute. Frustrations and emotions ran high as the game began to get chippy between the conference rivals. There were 19 total fouls and 3 yellow cards in the first half. The Rams trailed 2-0 at the half.
The Polars picked up right where they left off, scoring after just two minutes of action once more. The chippiness only heightened as the game went on as the officials had to separate the teams on multiple occasions. There were 9 total fouls, 4 yellow cards, and 1 red card in the second half. The Rams were able to find 7 shots (2 SOG) in the second, but would fail to find the back of the net. NCU goalkeeper
Peyton Carselowey totaled 6 saves in the home loss to the Polars.
