Minneapolis, MN -- North Central University (NCU) women's soccer returned to Elliot Park Field for another Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) match as NCU hosted Crown College (CC). North Central celebrated its "Senior Day" as the team recognized seniors
Anna Deichert and
Esther Johnson for all that they have meant to the women's soccer program. Today's match was a one-sided affair for the Polars; however, in consolation,
Ramiyah Words would score a highlight reel header off a corner kick from
Madeline Lowe in the final minute of action.
Erma Ramirez got the start in goal for the Rams once again. She was tested early as the Polars recorded 6 shots in the first 15 minutes, resulting in 2 saves for the junior keeper. In the 18th minute, Crown scored its first goal of the game to take a 1-0 lead over the Rams. The Polars racked up 19 total shots in the first half while NCU did not record a shot. North Central trailed 1-0 at halftime.
In the 59th minute, Crown College struck again to extend their lead to 2-0. Before North Central could create a scoring opportunity to answer back, the Polars scored their third goal of the game to take a demanding lead at 3-0. Crown College totaled 31 shots (13 SOG) and
Erma Ramirez did all she could to turn away 10 of them on the afternoon. When this one looked all but finished, sophomore
Madeline Lowe sailed a corner kick into the box and defender
Ramiyah Words sent a header past the Polars keeper for her first goal of the year. Unfortunately, it would be too little too late as Crown would win 3-1.
