Super Smash Extends Win Streak to Three

11/11/2024 1:52:00 PM

Minneapolis, MN -- North Central University (NCU) Super Smash continued their win streak with a 2-0 victory over Simpson College on Thursday. NCU Fortnite competed in the Playfly Split 2 Open 3 where all three duos qualified for the Split 2 Championships this upcoming Saturday.

Super Smash vs Simpson College (2-0 Victory)

Game 1: NCU - 12   SC - 11   |   Game 2: NCU - 12   SC - 11

  • Rydon "RjFx4" Foldhazi opened for NCU this week. His classic Megaman dueled Simpson's Zelda on PS2. Foldhazi fell behind at the start, but barely managed to claw back two stocks before going down.
  • NCU sent out Benjamin "BTGing" Piasecki next on his trusty Snake. Looking to finish off the Zelda, the two played a close first stock before Piasecki would eventually tie the game.
  • Simpson sent out their Plant next. Piasecki took an early lead and managed to hold it as the stock counts dwindled, ending it with one remaining.
  • Piasecki pressed on, taking on Simpson's PT on Battlefield. The two fought a close first stock, but the PT won out with a flare blitz for an early kill.
  • NCU's captain, Phillip "wtrPHILter" Graham, went out next for the Rams. Taking the PT to Small Batt with his Rob, he took the lead off the bat and ran with it. After narrowly losing his second stock, he closed out the game at low percent.
  • Simpson sent out their Mii Brawler next. Looking to take out NCU's captain on Hollow Bastion, Graham was able to claim a stock before going down.
  • Asher "bluewaras" Winter came out on his classic Joker to anchor for the Rams. Fighting their Brawler on PS2, he won out the first stock, but dropped his first two before closing out the game with a sick confirm into up air.

  • Rydon "RjFx4" Foldhazi opened once again for NCU with his Megaman. Simpson switched it up by opening on their PT and caught Foldhazi off guard. Fighting on Small Batt, he lost out quickly, only getting one stock before falling.
  • NCU sent out Phillip "wtrPHILter" Graham next on his Rob. Taking the PT back to Small Batt, Graham managed to take the first stock and build a large percent lead before dropping his first. He closed out the game with two remaining.
  • Graham pressed on, taking Simpson's Plant at Hollow Bastian. He gained an early lead and took the first stock, but the Plant quickly came back with a stock of his own. Graham closed out a second stock to even the game and managed to win out in the last hit, placing NCU in the lead.
  • Simpson, looking to end our captain's run, sent out their Zelda next. Graham, playing on Small Batt, played solid neutral, managing to take a stock and work them up to kill percent before going down, ending his epic six-stock run.
  • NCU sent out Todd "lucid" Holloway II on his trusty Samus. Taking their Zelda to PS2, he managed to win out after securing both his kills with f-smashes at the ledge, but not before dropping two stocks.
  • Holloway II continued, taking on a surprise Cloud at Small Batt. They fought a close first stock, but Holloway II lost out, going down without taking a stock.
  • Benjamin "BTGing" Piasecki came out to anchor for NCU. Taking his Snake to Battlefield against the Cloud, he lost out the first stock, but quickly evened the game with a C4 kill. A quick roll read into an up title kill put him in the lead, and he kept it up after losing a stock, closing the game with a second up tilt.

Super Smash JV vs Western Illinois University (0-2 Defeat)

Game 1: NCU - 2   WIU - 12   |   Game 2: NCU - 4   WIU - 12

Without a strong matchup or counterpick, JV Super Smash would struggle to take down the Western Illinois University Leathernecks. This means an end to the JV season with the team going winless.
