Minneapolis, MN -- This afternoon, the North Central University (NCU) women's soccer team stayed home at Elliot Park for their final match of the regular season to face the Martin Luther College (MLC) Knights. In their previous match, the Rams were handed a loss from the Vikings with a 5-2 final score. With the Rams still recovering from injuries and illnesses, the final match of the regular season resulted in another 5-0 loss dealt by the Knights.
To start off the first half of the match, both teams were competitive with shots fired from each opponent. However, it was MLC that broke the silence in the 14th minute with a goal from a corner kick. The Knights maintained their momentum, and just before halftime, they struck again in the 32nd minute, doubling their lead to 2-0. The Rams fought hard to respond, with several shots on goal, including attempts from
Paula Capili and
Jessica Redman. The final minutes of the first half concluded with a shot attempt from
Ashlynn Sherman, with the Knights leading 2-0.
The second half began with MLC extending their lead further in the 53rd minute. NCU responded with several attempts, including shots from
Paula Capili and
Ramiyah Words, who pushed for many offensive opportunities. However, the Knights extended their lead by another score in the 79th minute of the match, bringing the score to 4-0. MLC struck once more to finish the match by scoring a fifth time in the 81st minute, finalizing the scoring and bringing it to an end at 5-0.Â

Up next, the team will be competing in the NCCAA DII North Regional Championship tournament starting Tuesday, November 12th. All games will be hosted at Crown College in St. Bonifacius, MN. Game times are currently TBD.Â
