Rams Swept by Knights in Double Header

Northfield, MN -- After starting their season 0-4 in Bethany's Kwik Trip Invitational, the North Central University (NCU) softball team took a trip to Northfield, MN for a doubleheader against the Knights of Carleton College (CC). Carleton showcased strong pitching in game one as the Rams struck out 12 times and only got themselves one hit. The Knights won game one by a final of 8-0. North Central stepped it up early on game two, scoring 2 runs in the top of the first to take the first lead of the day. However, their offense stalled out and the Knights won by a final of 14-2.

Game 1: NCU 0, CC 8

Carleton was able to gain a 2-0 lead over NCU in the first inning scoring two unearned runs. The Ram's defense would make the necessary adjustments in innings 2 and 3 as they held the Knights scoreless.

However, in the 4th inning, Carleton scored 3 runs off 4 hits to increase their lead to 5-0. NCU would be unable to figure out the Knights' pitcher as they were unable to score in the top half of the 5th. An error and 2 hits in the 5th allowed Carleton to score 3 more runs and walk it off by a final score of 8-0.

Game 2: NCU 2, CC 14

To start things off, Isabela Gallardo doubled down the right field line. She would advance to third as Katelynn Fox reached on an error. Delaney Riddle would pick up an RBI as she knocked in Gallardo. Aurora Prettyman would knock in Fox thanks to Carleton's second error of the game as the Rams took a 2-0 lead over the Knights.

However, Carleton responded quickly putting up crooked numbers in both the first and second innings taking a 7-2 lead over North Central. NCU would be able to slow down Carleton's bats as they put up a 0 in the third. Unfortunately, the Knights made their adjustments on offense as they put up 7 in the bottom of the fourth. This allowed Carleton to run-rule the Rams by a final of 14-2.
