Minneapolis/Mankato, MN -- The North Central University Men's and Women's Track and Field teams split up between the Gopher Classic hosted by the University of Minnesota and the Ted Nelson Classic at Minnesota State Mankato. Numerous personal bests and school records were broken on Saturday afternoon by the Rams.
Ted Nelson Classic:
The throwers represented NCU in Mankato with
Micayla Jones (Chicago, IL) and
Grace King (Hales Corners, WI) performing well on the day. Jones broke her previous school record in the weight throw in a mark of 11.35 meters and hit a season best of 9.89 meters in the shot put. King, who started weight throw for the first time this year, earned a personal best of 8.98 meters overall.

Gopher Classic:
Highlighting the day for the sprinters,
Serena Lanes (Mesa, AZ) hit a new NCU record time of 8.57 seconds in the 60 meter dash as well as took the top time for the team in the 200 meter in 29.18 seconds. Lanes also shined in the 400 meter for the women's team with 1:06.05, claiming the new program record in this event as well.Â
In the men's 60 meter dash,
Nehemiah Juaire (Belle Plaine, MN), running in his first meet of the season, ran a personal best of 7.41 seconds in total. In the 400 meter,
Isaac Weiers (Neillsville, WI) added a new personal best for NCU in a time of 56.78 overall.
On the distance side,
Garrett Converse (Lexington, NE) broke his personal record in the mile with 4:57.32 for the sophomore.
Matthew Holstad (Bloomer, WI) posted a time of 2:14.29 in the 800 meter, his first time running the event this season. For the women,
Jessica Redman (Beaver Dam, WI) took to the 800 meter for the first time, earning a time of 2:40.96. Rounding out the day for the distance squad,
David Bjorge (Polson, MT) ran a strong 3,000 meter finishing with a new season best of 11.01.48.
In the high jump, Weiers and Juaire continued their success in the event, hitting marks of 1.84 meters and 1.79 meters, respectively.

Looking Ahead:
The track and field team will compete in two weeks at the Gene Glader Classic hosted by Bethel University on February 17th.
