Ashland, WI -- After losing on the road in Superior, the North Central University (NCU) men's basketball team would head over to Ashland, WI to take on the Lumberjacks of Northland College (NC). The teams last met on January 12th in which the Rams won beating the Jacks by a score of 99-80. The men would look to prevent a losing streak as they lost back-to-back games to Wisconsin-Superior and Northwestern (MN). They would be able to do just that as they would earn the season sweep of Northland winning by a score of 102-75.
Tanner Holtman got right to work as he drained a three right away. However, the Lumberjacks would go on a 6-0 run jumping out to an early 6-3 lead. Holtman would score three more points off an and-one opportunity and Nik Feller would make a layup to allow the Rams to take an 8-6 lead. Northland would eventually retake a 12-10 lead over NCU, but Feller would score 5 unanswered points to give North Central a 15-12 lead. Once the lead was in their hands, the Rams would start to pull away. A 13-0 run to close out the first half would give NCU a 62-34 lead over NC going into halftime.
Coming out of the locker room, the Rams would open up the second half with five points from Ja'Shon Simpson. The Lumberjacks would be able to go on a couple of scoring runs, but the North Central lead would be too much for them to overcome. The Rams would continue to pile on to their lead as the game would slip out of reach for the Jacks. After 40 minutes of play, North Central would take down Northland by a score of 102-75 earning the season sweep and improving to 6-4 in conference play.
