Auburndale, FL -- Today, the North Central University (NCU) baseball team played game number four of its spring break Florida trip versus the Albion College Britons from southern Michigan. Coming off a late night doubleheader against Wentworth, the Rams struggled at the plate versus the Briton pitchers. NCU eventually got a few hits late, but it was not near enough as Albion won 19-2.
The Britons got on the board early with a run in the top of the first. NCU's batters went down 1,2,3 to close out the inning.
Caleb Alfaro did his job in the second, as he got two batters to fly out and took the third on his own. After a handful of walks, the Rams would leave runners in scoring position in the bottom of the second. Through the next three innings, North Central would be retired after just three batters as they would only be able to manage light contact. Meanwhile, the Britons racked up 11 runs and 11 hits. The Rams finally recorded their first hit in the bottom of the seventh as
Michael Escalante singled to right field, followed by the same play from
Nick Julian.
Teagan Burch then singled to center to knock in Escalante for the Rams' first score of the game. Julian then scored off a ground out from
Julian Encinas. In the bottom of the seventh, many substitutions were made by both dugouts. The Britons kept up the momentum with 7 additional hits and 4 runs to make it 19-2. North Central could not record any more hits and the Rams fell to the Britons.
